Altex, a leader in Canadian heat exchanger manufacturing and servicing, is currently expanding its operations, an undertaking that will see the Edmonton-based firm grow from its current 22,000 square foot shop into a brand new 46,000 square foot facility.

Expansion is underway at Altex Industries’ Edmonton facility.

The addition of more than 24,000 square feet will bring not only extra shop space, but a new two-story shop office building with nine offices, a 2,500 square foot office addition with fourteen additional offices, a 50’ x 225’ yard craneway for material handling plus additional space for a larger shop lunchroom and washroom/locker room facility.

Altex says the expansion is necessary to not only meet the demand of existing clients, but to open the firm up to handling more projects.

“The expanded facilities will allow us to have more capacity and quicker turnaround,” said Durwill Dennis, President, Altex. “Most of what we do is rush work because it’s on a shutdown or an outage of some kind. We end up working quite often around-the-clock, seven days a week. Our clients require it and the new facility will let us answer as efficiently and effectively as possible.”“The demand for our products and services is increasing,” said Stephen Hutchison, Vice President and General Manager at Altex. “Based on the Alberta economy and projections for major projects upcoming, we need the larger space to create greater efficiency.”

Altex says the expansion, scheduled for completion in the second quarter of 2012, is necessary to meet the demand of existing clients and to open the firm up to handling more projects.

“We’re pretty tight in the space we have right now,” Hutchison added.

The expansion is slated for completion in the second quarter of 2012.

“It’s going to allow us to be, undoubtedly, the number one turnaround supplier for heat exchangers,” added Dennis.Altex’s service arm, Evtex Field Services, is also growing at a steady pace.

“We’ve been getting really great reception from our field service team. They’ve grown extensively and have had some 100 percent growth periods,” Dennis said. “Together we are very well-equipped to give our clients what they require.”

Altex and Evtex representatives present Little Warriors’ Executive Director with a cheque for $12,680.

On June 22, 2012, 106 golfers and 20 volunteers hit the greens at the Lacombe Golf and Country Club in Lacombe, Alberta to support Little Warriors, a Canada-wide organization focused on the education and prevention of child sexual abuse.

“It’s very important that we give back to the community and charitable organizations,” said Daren Aubie, Project Manager and tournament chairman at Altex Industries Inc. “As a business, our people are our greatest asset. Our people and their families are all affected in some way by many of the charitable organizations we support.”

“We chose to support Little Warriors this year because we wanted to support something other than the large, mainstream charities that people see on a regular basis,” Aubie added.

“Getting this donation from Altex helps us to educate and train adults on how to prevent child sex abuse,” said Laurie Szymanksi, Executive Director of Little Warriors. “For every adult trained, there’s the potential to protect 10 children. With Altex’s donation, that means we can train 350 adults and benefit 3,500 children.”

Altex and Evtex have been supporting local and national charities through its golf tournaments since 2004. Past charitable organizations to benefit from Altex’s and  Evtex’s support include The Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation, Alzheimer Society of Alberta and the Weekend to End Women’s Cancers.
